All of this sunshine has got me 100% in the mood for bikini wearing! I know for a lot of women the mere thought of a bikini can leave them feeling terrified; finding something supportive, that fits both boobs and bum, styles that don’t leave us feeling so exposed, comfort… it can be a real stress. So when I had the chance to try the swimwear collection from my absolute favourite brand, Elomi, I jumped at it.
All of my pieces came from Lazeme, thy are all separates but Elomi very cleverly keep their basics collection in the same shades as their other pieces so you can mix & match with such ease until you find your perfect combination. I opted for pieces in
Indigo and I’m so pleased I did as the colour is outrageously good! My pieces are from the “Indie” and “Essentials” ranges.
First up I tried the High Neck Bandeau Top from the Indie range, I was a little wary as halter styles usually dig into my neck but I need not have worried as this is essentially a strapless bikini with all the support of a really good bra and the high neck crochet is more decorative so absolutely no digging in! My other concern was tan lines (I’m being optimistic here since my holiday is in North Wales…) but again the high neck folds down and I was able to tuck it in so if I was sunbathing I would do this then put it back up once I’m off chucking my kids around a pool – which leads me on to saying I definitely feel more confident in this top because the chance of my boob making a run for it whilst playing with the children are very small and if my some miracle they did escape the extra layer would make it less noticeable.
They also do a tankini top in this high neck style, which is similar to a swim dress. I loved this look and I could imagine throwing it on with some shorts to get lunch would be a fab easy look. I will note the tankinis are designed to be worn over a bikini, there isn’t any support in the top an the crochet one is unlined! I’m wearing mine over the Multi-Way bikini, which also gives the same fantastic support as an Elomi bra and has a lovely shape which you can adapt to suit you. The Twist Front Tankini offers a little more coverage and a touch of support so you could wear this one without a separate top. I prefer this design on me, it was super comfortable and easy to wear and I like the neckline. I did wear a bikini under this too as I like feeling fully supported!
I teamed all of my tops with the Mid Rise Brief which gives a good coverage. It comes fairly high up, I’m very long in the torso so I imagine on most people it would be belly button height. The fit of these is lovely too, so comfortable to wear. If, however, you want more coverage there is the option of High Waist Brief that will almost meet your top.
The collection runs from a DD to HH cup and bands are 34 – 44. I’m wearing 36HH in the bikini tops, size 20 briefs and size 20 in the tankini tops. I would prefer a 22 in the tankini tops just for boobs space otherwise everything fits very true to size and just as their lingerie does. I do wish the range was available beyond a HH though I must say as I am “making do” with fit rather than it being spot on and whilst I’m less fussy in swimwear I would like the option of my actual size.
Overall I’m very impressed. The quality is fantastic, the fact you can tailor your own look is brilliant and I genuinely love that pieces such as the high neck & plunge tops aren’t compromising on style one bit for the fuller bust but still offer a tonne of support. I think I’m likely to rock most of this over summer and I’ll feel stylish, supported and not a bit “frumpy mum” at all.
