We all know that first impressions count for a lot, but sometimes a second impression is needed because the first time I tried Rougette by Tutti Rouge’s Madison bralette I almost sent it back! Luckily I did try it again and did a complete U-turn…
My eye was drawn to the Madison Bralette as it has a hook and eye fastening at the back like a bra (rather than just a stretchy crop-top type band), and it was pretty, with lace detail all the way up the straps as well as across the soft cups. I initially ordered the ASOS Exclusive green version, which has a mesh cup with tiny polka dot detail. I have since ordered the stretch satin cup leopard print version directly from Tutti Rouge because I loved it so much and needed more than one! Both are so pretty to look at, with the usual Tutti Rouge detail like the heart shaped strap adjusters, and soft lace that doesn’t rub or scratch.
Sizing-wise Madison comes in 32-40 band options with a DD/E/F or FF/G option for each band size. Now, I’m a 28H/30GG so I had to be a bit creative when ordering, but I went for the 32FF/G in the hope that sister sizing would come through and it would fit relatively well. While I do have to wear Madison on the tightest hook and there is ever so slight boob spillage under my arms, I feel like it is a pretty decent fit.
My initial issue with Madison was that I felt that it made my boobs look quite flat, but I think I was being unfair since at the end of the day this is a soft cup bralette and not an underwired, structured bra. Once I got over myself I realised that actually, this bralette gives quite a good shape. I still have a bit of a cleavage and there is definite lift, which I think is fantastic considering how ridiculously comfortable it is. When I say comfortable, I mean that I didn’t want to take it off. Ever. I usually wear a stretchy crop top to bed so I thought I’d see what Madison was like overnight. It was brilliant. No spillage from the cup, even though it’s cut quite low, and the band stayed where it was meant to be. I’m currently wearing the leopard version under a t-shirt, and while the seam is visible the shape is good.
The only downside for me is a slight lack of sizing range, but I know Rougette is aimed at 32-42 DD-G so I really cannot complain that they don’t have my size!
I have never found bralettes to be both gorgeous and functional but Madison has changed that. Thank you Rougette!
