I was sent this stunning Freya Fancies set by Belle Lingerie when I featured on their fabulous body confidence series.
(click the link to have a read) I have had a slightly troubled relationship with Freya, I used to be a huge fan but as my body has changed I’ve found it more and more difficult to get a good fit from them plus I am very borderline size for their brief offerings however the “Fancies” range was one I really wanted to try out.
The Fancies range is available in several designs, I am wearing the Balcony bra which is on offer in sizes 30GG-K but the other items do start at a 30D so there is quite a broad size range for the pieces. I went for a 34J as this is my usual Freya size. The band runs a touch smaller/ has less stretch than other bras I’ve had from them but was definitely wearable and the cups were almost perfect, with the gore tacking between my boobs wonderfully and my shape was lifted and supported so all the boxes were ticked there. The colour of this set struck me the most, such a vivid blue with lace detailing all over, the fabric feels very nice, good quality and not itchy or scratchy on the skin, which for bra that is currently £24.50 at Belle Lingerie is actually blinkin’ brilliant! I would note if you have narrow or sloping shoulders I would probably avoid the balcony style as the straps are quite wide-set and you may find you get a lot of slipping.
The briefs are all over lace with no lining so if you want a bit more coverage then I suggest mix & matching with a different style. I went for a size 18 as this is the largest available, I would normally wear a 20 on my bum but they actually fit ok and didn’t dig in or roll considering they were a size down. It is a bugbear of mine though that a brand which offers bras to a 38 would stop the matching briefs at an 18 and I’d like to see future versions of this available in larger sizes, this aside, they were comfortable and wearable and a good offering for the price.
All in all I’m impressed by the Fancies range, it’s cute, affordable and well sized and if you are somebody who has just discovered their ‘real’ bra size I think it’s a really strong introduction range to get you away from the supermarket and department store multipacks. Have you tried any of this range? Let me know your thoughts on it.
