Ok, I normally steer clear of “high street” lingerie because, at a 36J, it’s a fairly certain bet that they wont fit but being a big fan of Simply Be as a brand, I decided to give their range a whirl after seeing the “Rules Rewritten” campaign (I’m an advertisers dream..)
I didn’t have a lot of choice in my size on their site but the Daisy plunge bra caught my eye because of the vivid blue colour. I went for a 36J, however I will note there are no “Double letters” apart from a DD so they do “miss out” FF, GG, HH and so on which makes it a bit confusing to buy your correct size but I decided to shop as I imagine a typical customer would and but the size I generally wear.
The bra is foam lined with a lace overlay and the briefs are an unlined lace,
both in a bright blue and turquoise colour. The bra style is plunge and the briefs are shortie style. I must say I was quite impressed with this set – the bra is comfortable, quite generous in the band and adequate sized cups, I felt there was decent support and quite a nice shape. The gore sits flat, the straps don’t dig in. My only real issue was side boob escaping, I think I would have had to get 36K really for a better fit but this is due to the random sizing on offer rather than it being a small fit. I really don’t understand why shops skip the double letters – drives me crazy!
The briefs are very generously sized. I absolutely could have got a size 18
and been very comfortable. they are fairly high cut for a short which meant they sat more like a French knicker on my ample bottom and to be honest, I prefer this! My only bug bear with the knickers is the centre seam, it’s something that really bothers me on lingerie because what woman wants a seam cutting her right up the middle?!
The set cost £18 all together which is a blinkin’ bargain for a H+ cup set, whilst I do think you generally need to pay a bit more for really good lingerie this does prove you can get bigger sizes at a low cost occasionally and some of us this need this option.
I also want to shout out to the shirt I’m wearing in these pics too. I’m wearing it as lingerie style robe but it’s actually designed as an outer wear sheer shirt and I’ll be wearing it so much throughout Spring & summer, such a versatile piece with stunning colours. I think I’m going to style it with my Sachi bra and some light blue jeans.
Would I buy a high street lingerie set again? yes I would but I think I’d order a couple of sizes to try next time. Have you tried any decent budget bras lately? Any gems I should know about?
