After my previous experience with period pants (you can read that review here) I was very keen to try out other brands. One that kept coming up was Modibodi so I headed to their website for some researching and was pretty impressed. When they offered to gift me some to try I was absolutely thrilled.
I have discussed how my cycles are pretty all over these days. I’m currently experiencing roughly 64 day long cycles which means I’ve been sat on this product just waiting for my period to show up.
Luckily(??!) I did have some short bursts of light bleeding which meant I whipped them on for a test drive straight away.
Soft bamboo briefs
I was sent two pairs of the classic full briefs in beige. This style is for “light-moderate” flow and the first thing I noticed was just how soft and smooth the organic bamboo fabric is. A bit of stretch which allows for a comfortable fit and a really nice rise on the waist which something I was looking for as I prefer my briefs to come up above my C-Section scars. The pad section of this style isn’t bulky at all, barely any difference to your normal briefs and thanks to the smooth fabric they are pretty much invisible under clothing. There are a plethora of styles available including different absorbencies, rises and even swim & leisure wear.
Another massive plus point for Modibodi is the size range. One thing I was struggling with when searching for period pants was finding brands that offered plus sizes. They go up to a 6XL which is a UK size 26 and I would say they are generously sized so would definitely fit a size 28 too. This was by far one of, if not the widest size ranges I came across in this niche.
Dealing with flow
So, like I mentioned, my periods have been pretty chaotic and the bursts of bleeding I have had where fairly light and short but I had no worries at all about Modibodi standing up to their job. The only negative thing I found was the gusset length. I tend to bleed towards the front and I did find there was a touch a leaking where the gusset stopped short. I imagine in the heavier absorbency styles this does come up higher so I maybe I would need to go for them in future.
More than just periods
Modibodi offer a lot more besides just period pants. They have a specific teen range which has majorly impressed me. I have a ten-year old daughter and this is something I would 100% buy for her when it comes to it. They also offer a basic swimwear range and a moisture wicking activewear range which I imagine will be great in “chafe season” There’s also a maternity range and as somebody who bled super heavily post childbirth these would have made my life that bit more bearable!
Overall I will buy Modibodi pants again. I am due a hysteroscopy soon during which I am going to get a coil fitted and I know I’ll one of the few who bleed after it so at least I can be super comfortable during it rather than all itchy and sticky like I am with disposbale pads.
Let me know if you’ve given period pants a try yet.
