Ok, so I’ll be honest here. I have a sometime awkward relationship with Curvy Kate and find their bras either fit perfectly and are the comfiest ever or they cut in or rub somewhere and I find that I hardly wear them. I already owned Smoothie Spirit and while I like the shape and fit, it isn’t that comfortable on me so when Brastop gifted me Smoothie Wild to review I wasn’t expecting much (although I really loved High Hopes, you can find my review here).
I’m really pleased to say I can add Smoothie Wild to the comfiest ever category and it’s become my go-to skin tone moulded cup bra. It comes in Blush and Black, Brastop sent me a Blush set to review but I’ve since bought it in black (more on that later). A moulded cup balconette, it’s perfect for wearing under tight clothing as it’s seam free (yay!) and the subtle animal print pattern doesn’t show under clothes, but adds a lovely touch to the styling of the bra. A little bow and drop shaped crystal between the cups adds a touch of luxury. Smoothie Wild also has the ever so handy hooks on the straps so you can make it into a racer back, which makes it even more versatile for wearing under different outfits.
One of the things I love about Curvy Kate is that they start their bands at a 28 in a lot of their styles, and Smoothie Wild is one of them. It can be so difficult to find smaller bands on larger cup bras and I really do hope that Curvy Kate carries on making bras in such a wide range of sizing. I wear a 28H and I found the Blush true to size, the Black that I subsequently bought because I loved the Blush so much runs that tiny bit smaller in the band (as so often happens with black bras) which meant I had some overspill in the cup. An extender for the band fixed this for me, but it’s something to be aware of if you’re ordering different colours.
I love balconette bras as they give great lift, and they can be perfect for ladies who find they have lost some fullness or that have bottom heavy breasts. I have quite high, rounded boobs and Smoothie Wild gives me a great boost and shape without making my boobs look too pushed up, so it’s perfect for day to day wear but also gives me enough cleavage that it can be worn under low cut tops on nights out. The cup doesn’t come to high under my arms as some balcony styles can, and it’s one of those bras I can wear all day long and forget I actually have on! An absolute staple in my collection now and my go-to moulded skin tone bra, as I said earlier.
Briefs wise, there’s a thong, short and high waisted shaper available. Brastop sent me the short and they are the same lovely animal print with bow and crystal drop detail as the bra, the thong and high waist shaper both have this detailing also. The shorts come up true to size, and they give a really nice vpl free look under clothes as they are so smooth. Winner! Not the sexiest pants I own but they are comfy, look good under clothes and that’s enough for me.
Curvy Kate are always reasonably priced and this is no exception, larger cup bras can be really expensive and it’s fab to see a brand that has such a good range of sizing and won’t break the bank.
