Well it’s been a long old time since I sat down to write a review and I have a lot to catch up on but I decided to start with the Portia set by Curvy Kate which I got in the “exclusive to Brastop” colour of plum/black.
I’ve changed sizes a little recently, mainly due to medical reasons and being unable to tolerate anything too firm around my ribcage/upper abdomen & as a result I’m favouring a 38HH and a 20/22 brief. Unless I state otherwise just assume these are the sizes I’m wearing in my posts.
I must admit I can struggle with the fit of Curvy Kate bras. My bust is a little to full on top and set too closely for their shape but I was pleasantly surprised with Portia. The centre gore lay nice and flat, there was no overspill and the wires framed my bust perfectly. Often, the straps on CK bras can feel too narrow and dig in and roll. The cup structure can struggle to lift heavy breast tissue enough too. The straps on Portia however where good. I wore the bra all day and I didn’t need to adjust them at all and they were very comfortable. Uplift & support was fair to good, I would prefer a touch more “oomph” from the lower part of the cup but for the price point it’s not bad at all!
In terms of looks I’m fully on board with this set. It is a non-padded double lined balconette. It has criss-cross embroidery across the cups which makes it look a bit more sexy and special. The top of the cups are finished with a darker ribbon which is lovely detail. The band has 3 hook & eyes and the shoulder straps are fully adjustable. The briefs are a short style, they are fairly low rise on the tummy – which is pretty standard for this brand. They have the same Criss-Cross detailing and are quite sheer which I’m a fan of as they feel a little more delicate.
Overall Portia gets 4/5 from me.
